Rottnest Island was first settled by farms in 1830 and started to be developed as a tourist attraction in the early 1900's. Today, Rottnest Island is a nature reserve and all the flora and fauna on the island is protected. It is characterised by the Rottnest Tea Tree and the cypresses which provide a welcome shade in the hot summer months. The quokka - a small marsupial after which the island is named - can be seen in abundance and is a harmless inoffesive animal. The local Perth population frequent the island as a leisure destination and it is also a very polular tourist and visitor attraction.

Access to public golf courses is really easy - some accept bookings and others operate on a first come first served basis. Green fees vary considerably and it's recommended to contact the course. Some private golf course allow public access and bookings are essential. Perth also boasts some of the best and finest Resort Courses in Australia.
