SmartRider
The Public Transport Authority and Transperth plan to introduce a smartcard-based system in late 2006 named SmartRider, replacing the existing MultiRider. Some students in high schools have already been issued these cards, although they have not yet been introduced to the general public. This is set to happen by 2006. The student SmartRiders feature a picture of the student, their name and address of their school. On October 16, 2005, 2000 people started trialling the SmartRider system for one month.
The smartcard-based system is based on software and hardware from the UK company Wayfarer
TravelEasy
The TravelEasy is a Transperth's email update service that sends notifications to the users. Users can opt-in to this service to receive the service changes, disruptions and special events on selected railway lines and bus routes through email. Later on, the TravelEasy account can be used to link the SmartRider card for account balances or other operations.

History
Transperth was formed by the amalgamation of Bus, Ferry and Rail passenger services during the 1980's. All of these services were originally operated by the State government either by Metropolitan Transport Trust (MTT) operated the Bus and Ferry services. West Australian Government Railways (WAGR) owned and operated under the name Westrail. Towards the end of 1980's and into the 1990's Transperth competed with private operators through a tender process to service various passeneger routes.
Later into the 1990 Transperth re-tendered the services they continued to operate. Transperth now owns the vehicles and leases them to the route operators who are responsible for the maintenance of the vehicles.
Transperth controls the public transport (by contracting other companies) in Perth, Western Australia. It is run by the Public Transport Authority.
