TransPerth CAT
For city travellers, Perth and Fremantle are serviced by an efficient public transport system as well as a free shuttle-service in Perth known as the Central Area Transit (CAT). There are four different CAT services, which circulate specific routes every five to 15 minutes during the day. Weekday timetables are more frequent than weekends.
The CAT Services
The red, blue and yellow CAT buses are free, all running within the transit zone borders.
RED CAT: Operates West to East and including stops at the Perth Mint, Queen’s Gardens and both the bus and train station.
BLUE CAT: Runs from the North to South including stops at the WA Museum, Arts Centre, Library and Hay Street Mall.
YELLOW CAT: Runs mainly in the north east part of the city with stops including Victoria Gardens, East Perth TAFE and the bus and train stations. All of the CAT routes are free and you can hop on and off as many times as you like with stops all over the city.
If you travel within the transit zones your journey is free of charge on both buses and trains and covers every corner. Free travel covers the South River, blossoming King’s Park in the West, the Causeway to the East and boundary of Northbridge in the Northern part of Perth.
